Uncertainty

Woofle

Here is a somewhat cute theme that plays during times when the characters reflect on the past, and things going on around them. It's supposed to signify a sort of uncertainty about things in the future, things in the past, and things in the present all at once, although in a really wistful manner, rather than a dark one.

Later on, during a certain point in the story, this leitmotif gets used again as a field map theme, although in a much grander fashion, and with a few others mixed in. here and here!

Enjoy!

You've definitely managed a feeling of fond wistfulness in this one, Woofle. It's underscored and emphasized by the wavering tone that shows up regularly in the 0:45 to around 1:20 area and just after 2:00 to about 2:45. While I guess you could call the overall feel of the song uncertainty, it seems more that it is simply a feel of 'undecided yet' to me. To me, uncertainty would imply worry, or at least some anxiety. This song is almost carefree instead, lending it more of a feeling of trying to pick a path at a crossroads, but with a strong optimistic current.

Don't get me wrong, though, I definitely enjoyed this. It sounds like a cheerful traveling song, or maybe a daydreaming sequence song.

I hadn't thought about the title that way. I suppose it is a bit of a dire title for a song that feels like this. The feeling you described was what I was going for, but the title ended up being incongruous with that. XD The first scene I used it in, in the first draft, was one where Versearrun finally decides, after a week of drinking and sleeping instead of going to a very important place, that it is time to actually get on the ball. Sure, it seems like nothing will come of it, and it will end badly, and Verse would rather continue drinking and sleeping, buuuuut... well, this song. xD

I'm in agreement with Timuri that the title doesn't really fit the score, but the score itself is excellent! Listened to plenty of your pieces now, I really dig the style!

...also, Versearrun??? You wouldn't happen to have roleplayed in Lismore before, would you?

Yeah, it wasn't my best title choice. xD I couldn't really think of much better at the time. I guess it's one of those foibles that one ends up stuck with by this point. XD It'd be weird to change it at this point.

      Also, yes, that's me. :3
