Blue Gate

Woofle

Deep in the jungles north and west of [ Sable Grove [LINK] ](http://www.weasyl.com/submission/193973/sable-grove) on the border between Tykondrus and Pentala, sits Puerta Azul, or the Blue Gate. This enormous dam is the largest on Elancia, and was constructed in pre-Elian times rather crudely with the power of magic to prevent devastating floods from washing away the [ former capital [LINK] ](http://www.weasyl.com/submission/229191/palacio-de-a-il)

Although little of the original dam remains, modern engineers and machines have reconstructed the dam to function optimally and prevent flooding on both sides of the border. As an added bonus (and perhaps more lucratively) those that maintain the dam use many dredging machines to draw up fine silt from the lake floor to sell off to farmers for a pretty penny.

At almost any time of the day, the dredging machines can be seen peeking up out of the waters behind the dam. Having been constructed during times when water was low, they sit toiling away day and night, while the people of Puerta Azul regularly maintain them and draw out the silt on barges to be loaded into wagons and hauled to [ Sandalio [LINK] ](http://www.weasyl.com/submission/20401/sandalio-daytime)

The city of Puerta Azul is filled with hardworking people, and also the furthest point west in Tykondrus. At the west end of the dam sits the checkpoint between Tykondrus and Pentala, through which travelers must pass.

Times are unimportant! XD Well, they can be. Who knows? ADVENTURE™
Actually, I really like this bass drum. :X Sorry about that!
I used a lot of little percussion/mallet instruments in this one to help with conveying the fact that this dam is in the jungle. I think it ended up working pretty good! The accordion seemed to fit right in with everything else, so I threw that in, too!
2'30: The sad part is that those drum were there all along, but the rest of the song -ate- them. xD So it was nice to get them to the forefront.
2'25: That's a vibraphone! :D Very under appreciated these days...
3'30: Yeah, I'm trying to use less conventional progressions these days, at least in some pieces. As I learn more, more odd ones will appear!

Glad you liked it!! :3 Gwah, I missed some timestamps!

Cannot win them all ! I like my strongass drums which some people may not be used ta at all in electronic music, but wha I listen to they are the standard... so appreciate other aspects or listen something else :P
In this case I "appreciate other aspects".
I am used to a bit different vibraphone tone, which is why I didn't recognise it as such. But yes it is a very lovely instrument ^^

Yeah, I'd heard a looooot of other vibraphones that didn't really impress me much, but this one is... I don't know, it has this gorgeous vibrato, and like... It just thrums so nicely!! I try to use it a lot. It's also featured in Sandalio (daytime!)
