"City of Wood: The City of Pleasures" - Street concept 1
One of the streets in City of Wood, the city of pleasures in the world of Blade Under Mask, where one can find every kind of pleasure, if so they desire... and can afford what they seek, of course.
It is in City of Wood where the hanamachi - the geisha district - is located, containing a full gamut of geisha houses, including the Asazaki, the house to which Nae belongs. Nae, and other maiko like her, are trained and live in these houses with their adoptive families, but they do not work there in an official capacity (although they're sure to work plenty, doing chores and training). Geisha and maiko are hired by teahouses, which are larger buildings that fill out a portion of the rest of the district. At these teahouses, parties and tea ceremonies are held, featuring geisha and maiko as entertainers. The Kaburenjo theatre, where dance presentations and plays are shown, is also located nearby.
Besides the hanamachi, the city also hosts a lot of places where gambling and games of chance can be played, and of course, there are "red light houses"... in their own district.
On a note: As much as I take inspiration from and base my work on real Japanese culture and geisha world, this story is not meant to be 100% accurate. Some details are changed to fit the story, world and my tastes better. Do not take this a source of information, as it is only entertainment. If you need to research or want to learn more about Japanese culture or geisha world, please look for real informative sources such as books! If you have any question, feel free to ask me, I'll answer if I can!
