A very special gift for my grandmother's 80th birthday.
Watercolor on 90lb cold-press watercolor paper. Ink + gouache details.
I tweaked the digital copy as best I could to reflect accurate colors, but computers just cannot do this painting justice. There is an almost ethereal vibrance to the colors of the original painting. It is one of those works that, even after you finish it, you just can't stop looking at it. I wish I could see it right now, but I am glad it is safe with my grandmother. :3
Art belongs to me. Do not use.
Oh wow...is your grandmother symbolized by the dove? I think of my grandmother's spirit as a dove as well. :)
Late reply is late, lol.
Actually, I think of my grandmother as the tiger. Tigers are possibly her favorite animal, or at least the one she seems to most strongly identify with (and the animal I most strongly associate her with). In the context of this painting, the dove is a Christian reference to the Holy Spirit. :)
I do not doubt, however, that one day when my grandmother passes, I will also associate her spirit with doves. ^_^
