Folks can't help what their names are when they're born. I personally would struggle dating someone with the same name as my Parents due to *Trauma especially associated to one of the names, but folks can't really help what name they're born with. I feel bad when I react to hearing the name of my parents on other people, I can't handle it, and I opt for Nicknames if they are a friend or someone close for my own sake.

BUT, Umbreon needs to talk with their Significant other and not some random weird internet stranger if this is about your own personal relationship. Internet strangers are not relationship Gurus, and everyone's own relationship dynamics and needs are very different between each other.

You know what's even more confusing? I know a girl who's engaged to another girl with the same name as her. Talking about them is hard because neither names nor pronouns do anything to clear up the confusion. I guess you could go by last name, but... I don't know the other one's last name. And it's possible that they may end up having the same last name at some point, too. Everyone just kinda refers to the two of them as a collective unit.

There’s great wisdom in this. I know names are popular at one time…….and come back around. When I was young, “Jennifer” was the popular girls name in all my classes—then 20 years later “Jennifer” was super-popular again. With favorite name cycles……it’s not strange that a person you like may have the same name of a parent or grandparent.
