Ghost Serpent? WIP by TristanAlexander (critique requested)

Ghost Serpent? WIP (critique requested)

TristanAlexander

Working on a new picture with no reason, I mean if no one wants my art I may as well paint whatever I want! Not sure of the title or anything else on this but it has an elf fighting a winged/feathered serpent. The serpent may end up being translucent, not 100% sure yet, also still unsure of whether the snake coil around the waste will be there or behind the body. Any thoughts, ideas are welcome. This is about 19 x 15 on Canson board.

You should always do art for yourself first and people second =D I understand how discouraging it can be when no one is buying but every artist goes through it. Just stay strong, and do what you love! Be true to yourself first and others second =D I would still like to do a trade with you eventually I just can't right now =\ but you have great talent and I love seeing your work. I am just not very good at commenting XD keep it coming! I can't wait to see the finished piece.

    Warning: Long-winded babbling.
As it is right now it gives me more a feeling of comradely than conflict. If that was a direction you chose to go I'd suggest a title like Serpent's Counsel, winch would play off the 'ancient wisdom' metaphor associated with elves and the deity Quetzalcohuātl; at the same time the title would be vague enough to leave it with a question of who was counseling who - I have a thing for duality.
I think 'snake coil around the waist' would work better and have a more classical fantasy look to the piece.
I hope this was of some help.

Thanks! Not long winded or babbling. I like that title and will keep it in mind!
