It's so true. I find visuals like this can really help explain even just the surface of what running a business is like and maybe enlighten some folks.

I think so, too! Life may be different for artists who have a day-to-day job, but those who are full-time pro artists……it’s a different story when your life revolves around your commissions. Pro artists barely get to even draw for themselves—so, sometimes it can even be draining to be a pro artist, I would think.

Oh totally! Everyone is different, runs their businesses different, etc. Juggling different jobs or school alongside art is pretty normal. Always evolving because people and the market are always changing. It's HARD but I also love it (for the most part)!

I think everyone should be happy at their chosen career. I might never have imagined working in a Library before I got my first job (I wanted to work in animation or comics)—but after working there part-time through my high school and college years, I found myself pretty happy at it. :)
Being happy at your job makes the job easier! :D

Sometimes I don't think people don't really understand everything involved in being a professional artist. It's not just sitting around all day drawing pictures. The good professional artists have to do all the aspects of the business, especially when they want to make sure their business is good and full of quality. What most of us do in drawing for fun, isn't what a pro does for profit--and to make a profit and make art a business, you have to make sure you're balancing your work schedule and the quality of your commission, then you have to put a monetary amount to all that to make sure you can make a living on it. :)
