Overlook

Teiirka

9" x 13" (22.9cm x 33cm) color pencil

Eyes forever drawn southward across the plains, the young shaman searches for what his visions have hinted, a lone rider on the distant horizon.
It has been 3 seasons since his intended mate vanished without a trace and though most say she is dead, he feels in his heart that his dream-sight foretells otherwise.
So, as he can, he makes the trek to the overlook, for without doing so, the vision could never come to pass.

This piece is related to "Cane Me, Chain Me, You'll Never Tame Me"

Rock. Dirty Big Rock! Stupid dirty big rock! He took 4 days, the rock took 9! A lot of experimentation here in several areas and I did learn quite a bit.

I also think I finally made a wolf that actually resembles a wolf. I think.

Gonna be for sale at TFF 2015

As always critique and comments welcome.

The struggle against your mineral-based enemies continues I'm taking it? No worries, the piece looks beautiful regardless. Your fur texture this time around is especially realistic and convincing, of particular note where it's longer and thicker down his back and tail. I have to agree that this is also one of your best looking wolves to date, and I love all those points of bright blue the feathers and adornments create on the backdrop of the muted tones of his pelt.

Guh man, your art is fantastic. It is always a joy to see it in the inbox :)

Wonderful work, while he does blend into the background a bit, I love the details and the patterns in the rocks. Of course it is natural and correct that he blend with the background...

Thanks. Yeah, for a time, the rocks behind him were lighter and he stood out nicely. But the rocks just didn't look right and I kept darkening them. Told myself the same thing, Natural coloration. :)

:) So, any progress on my pics background?

Been thinking about a classic sand dune scene. If that sounds OK with you, perhaps use a framed area in a shape similar to what you gave as an example?

while I still think a garden or something that would contrast with the figure would maybe be better, I want you to do what YOU think is best. I love your work and trust you to do what you think will be best for the picture. Thanks!
