The TLU-5 Chassis was the culmination of Imperial Light and Machine Works (ILMW) search to create a vacuum-ready, high-performance, high protection utility vehicle for soldiers and officers. While it is no tank, it is designed to take heavy machine gun fire long enough to allow the crew to exfiltrate the area. Mobility is provided by a hybrid fuel cell system that provides a 0-100km acceleration in about 5-7 seconds. This performance is provided in part to a plastic-resin shell that provides superior radiation resistance, spall protection, and a decrease in weight over previous metal shells. This protection is reinforced with a V-shaped hull and suicide-style doors on some models to allow easy exfiltration from the vehicle in an emergency.
