I've been teaching myself how to paint, and this is as done as it's going to get lol. The contrast is awful but I love her hair, so small victories, am I right?

It looks really good and the contrast is fine for the char it's self but between it and the back ground it could be helped by adding something more dark or light maybe some kind of abstract t night? Idk I'm not much of an " artist " more a programmer

I actually disagree, the contrast of the character itself is really bad, but it's not quite as bad against the background (save for the top of her dress). See what I mean? I wanted to use a limited palette, and I overblended so a lot of it is pretty muddy as a general whole. I have a lot to learn about making stuff like this work, when to merge layers, etc. It's a process haha. I also have a color difference between my monitors, so that doesn't help either. I should really try and balance them out, but I don't think it's gonna be as idea as I'd like it to be.
I appreciate the suggestion! Thinking critically about art is very important to both the artist and viewer.
