They're actually Eastern Grey Squirrels (Sciurus carolinensis) that have a melanistic mutation. You'll find them all over Ontario, Quebec, and in the midwest.

Cool, I've seen the grey squirrels with the red mutation but never black.

Where I live, 90% of the squirrels you see are fully black, it's the grey ones that are less common, hahaha
