Romero - Zombie Doberman Partial Costume by SteelJaw

Romero - Zombie Doberman Partial Costume

SteelJaw

Romero is my latest costuming project, and my first "commission". Someone requested a zombie Doberman Pinscher in time for this year's Rocky Mountain Fur Con, and I was able to bring the costume together in a little less than 2 months.

Romero features:

-Resin head with moving jaw. The head was actually modeled after a skull, and foam "flesh" added to make the lips, eyebrows, etc.

-Taxidermy eyes by Tohickon and taxidermy jawset

-Resin claws on the hands and feet

-Cast urethane rubber pawpads on the hands, feet are "parade soles" and built on lightweight tennis shoes

-Custom distressed zombie clothing and custom IRS badge by StraySouthpaw of FA.

-Silicone zombie injuries on the face, right ear and right arm

-Airbrushed markings and details

-Horsehair whiskers

This suit has a lot of tiny details that just don't show properly in photos. The whiskers on his injured, right side are bent and broken, there is matted "blood" on his arm and lower jaw, and the wounds have an oozing, festered quality to them.

Overall I'm very happy with the costume, especially given the amount of time I had to complete it. There are a lot of flaws, and some features I had to leave out for the sake of time. The head is far heaver than I would have liked, and the feetpaws were a terrible rush job, but I learned a lot and made my husband's day by having the costume ready for the convention.

All photos by myself, costume owned and worn by fontek of FA.
