Chapter 1 the past

I felt uncomfortable for some reason. My grandma and mother was in the kitchen talking and cooking dinner. i crawled over by the door and listened.

"Do you know what time your mate is coming back?" grandma asked.

"He should have been back by now."

"Maybe he's running late,"

"I'm not sure. he is never late for dinner. even squirrelette must be hungry by now,"

"Even Courage must be hungry too. that squirrel might tire him out."

"He is a good lizard and she trusts him,"

They feel it too. Something is wrong with father. Looks like it's up to me to find him.

The weather was wet and cold. Rain was heavy and the door was wide open. So I crawled out the door before something pulled me out.
