Agathah Reference pg. 1/2

Sparkyopteryx

Description pasted directly from other galleries: Pretty self-explanatory title. Official study/reference of my Xibalban high priestess, Agathah. I highly doubt anyone would be up to the task of drawing a character with such intricate and complex accoutrements, and I would feel bad foisting her onto someone for say, an art trade or something, but you never know. Besides, I get the feeling I have some watchers that are interested in this sort of stuff (character studies, I mean).

Obligatory info and tidbits on her and Xibalbans in general:

~Kilt is made entirely out of resilient beads woven together with fine metal and cloth fibers; having beads as a primary part of her outfit is a previously unheard-of affectation on the plane of Xibalba.

~Colors reflect the hues and metals sacred to the priesthood of Camazotz, those being black, red and silver/pewter. Priests must wear these colors, and since she is the most important priest of all, her entire wardrobe is made of of these colors.

~The gradients on the panels on her kilt and back are direct representations of what the Xibalban sky looks at "night" which is an auspicious time for the priests and when they perform most of their important rituals.

~Agathah is unusual in many ways, one of which being that her weapon of choice is a spiked chain (not pictured). However, she is never without her obsidian "claw," a ritual weapon that is hefty enough for combat as well.

~The extravagant and unusual pectoral she wears is a gift from her lover; she wears this for most every occasion and even doubles as her holy symbol now.

~Claws (on both wings and feet) are an unusual ruby color, this feature being one reason why she has the moniker "Ruby Priestess," among others.

Sheesh, this reference took for-freaking-ever, at least the coloring did; quite a lot of tiny little details to fill in, and of course I had to put the marker layers down first before the pen to keep from smudging. I had so much fun designing her vestments though, and I am immensely satisfied with her design. Second page of her reference will be uploaded shortly.

Done on heavy Aquabee paper with Copic and Prismacolor markers, ballpoints, some colored pencil and Staedtler pigment liners. No references used this time around. Character and art belong to me while Xibalbans are a creation of MisterMidnight

I adore her design, it is truly inspired and well thought-out. She is a great representation of your attention to detail, I think.

The pectoral she has was so much fun to design together, and made an awfully nice gift from Rilvor.

She kind of is, isn't she? Or perhaps artistic masochism. Either or. Hey, I have a creature that is mostly white and marking-free? Put a bunch of complex jewelry, tattoos and piercings on her instead! That'll learn you, durn you.

Funny you should mention that, considering Agithah...

The irony of my statement wasn't lost on me.

Good, 'cause I'd hate to have to include Rilvor in this.

Indeed. We need to exclude him as much as possible or he'll get out of control.
