Friends in Need

Sketcherism

"Did you know a school of piranha can consume the average person in nearly a minute? Ha don't you feel glad we didn't fall in now?"

Where would you be with friends like these? Probably dangling over a hundred feet drop too.

A far more simplistic piece/ideas for a couple of characters of mine. A couple of characters I'll have to be drawing up in detail next. Will Sketcherism ever learn what it is to sleep? Find out next time at his funeral.

  • Apparently I don't know how to change the preview resolution on Weasyl as of now or if it's even possible. A Download to view the picture will fix the low resolution.

++ This is really reminding me of a certain cartoonist's style/format, but I just can't seem to put my finger on it...

Hey this is great too! I love your lines+composition so much, there's tons of energy in your drawings. Do you do all the lines freehand?

Haha thanks again, nearly all of my lines are freehand. Except for the square borders and the real huge one in the center (Shift Click <3) They're all just me zooming n' out drawing as I go. Tried taking a ruler to my tablet ones, and I don't need to say any more.

Ughhhh you make such great work... your character design, the posing, the expressions, aaaagh

Also the style reminds me of the Sam and Max series

It remind me of Sam and Max too, though I can't tell if it's everything or just that bunny like smile he has going for themselves there haha. Thanks as always for the feed back too, character design has to be one of my personal favorites when it comes to art if not already my absolute favorite as it is.

Wow this great! I love the thick lines. :D

The ways lines were ment to be, except when there not surprisingly. Only wish sharpies/pens are just as easy to use as these fancy handy digital brushes haha.

If only sharpies could make cleaner lines, tho it also has to do with the kind of paper your using. Nevertheless, there is a certain freedom using the digital medium that allows you to be more sporadic without the fear of wasting materials. Buuuut at the same time it can also box you in and keep you from experimenting with real media.

Yeah I get you totally, at first paper was the real problem till index cards became my new best friend. Can't tell you enough how many packets of those cards and sharpies alike would go spent over during my work less days in school. I always thought about how much digital could limit me too, but since I spent over 4 years of my artist beginnings all on traditional, I figured switching up couldn't be so bad. Only problem is switching back now, more professionally and all instead of drawing just those fun little doodles haha.

Traditional is the way to start anyway. I'm terrible at holding a digital pen tho so its been difficult getting into that.
