This is one of the first pieces of concept art I said I would share. I've been working on the animation lately and decided to skip between scenes so I wouldn't get too bored of the project, and then it dawned on me... Neither Lightning nor Typhoon have proper references; in fact, nobody does! So I figured I should at least sketch out some design ideas and figure out which one works best for the animation, and this is the one we're going with. I think I can say I've also improved at "snarly" expressions, let me know what you think. 😄
I tried to be careful with color contrast so this design doesn't look too "sparkly", but for those wondering, she is half Nammani wolf, half Nammani husky, both fictional canines native to the story's setting.
Of course, Lightning is not a new character, she's actually fairly old. I don't have any art I made of her initial design saved unfortunately, but I did plan for her to make an appearance in the legacy project before I decided to revamp the story. If I do find art of her first design I'll try and find a way to share it.
