The Wall pt 2 - The Thin Ice by Seagoon

The Wall pt 2 - The Thin Ice

Seagoon

Part two of The Wall is illustrated by spunky (original here).

The song's essentially about the few fragile years of innocence the protagonist experiences (there are plenty of deeper interpretations and note-by-note analysis of it that have been written elsewhere, but that's the basic gist of it), and so I wanted a style that would reflect that sense of innocence. So we have our protagonist, Pink, as a young boy, playing about with his father's Royal Air Force uniform, blissfully unaware of the implications it holds. It won't be long though before the metaphoric ice cracks under his feet and his construction of the wall begins...

Maybe it's just me, but the background could look like a sheet of ice in itself.

Here's the song itself (as performed by Ute Lemper in Berlin; the only version I could find that wasn't blocked).

As a bonus, here's the song that follows, Another Brick in the Wall pt. 1 (again from the live Berlin concert). To try and save a bit of time (and money!) I decided not to dedicate images to those tunes as they're essentially add-ons for the song before them (well, the song after them in one case but we'll get to that... eventually).

The Wall remains the property of Roger Waters and Pink Floyd.
