Junkers Ju-52/3m in Lufthansa Livery

Scott Ruggels

My latest complete digital creation, nearly ready for sale on second life. This is a Junkers Ju-52/3m in early Lufthansa Livery. The SL Specs are that is it a 94 LI aircraft, with no attatchments, and will be scripted for flight using a Laminar Systems flight engine. Paint is customizable by the user or third parties and the PSDs for it will be made avalable soon. plane has provisions for Pilot and full control for the copilot as well, and seats 12 passengers.

The real plane was a German trimotor transport aircraft manufactured from 1931 to 1952. It saw both civilian and military service during the 1930s and 1940s. In a civilian role, it flew with over twelve air carriers including Swissair and Deutsche Luft Hansa as an airliner and freight hauler. In a military role, it flew with the Luftwaffe as a troop and cargo transport and briefly as a medium bomber. The Ju 52 continued in postwar service with military fleets well into the 1980s. In civil service, it still flies commercially with Ju-Air in Switzerland, and with Lufthansa for special flights in Germany and the rest of Europe.

fascinating. ...can SL render the experience of being in the plane, while it's in flight, or is it more like a video game vehicle with an over-the-shoulder perspective? (is interested in SL but never actually tried it)

I could post interior pics of the passenger Cabin, and/or the cockpit. the POV of the character can be chosen by the user freely between 3rd person over the shoulder, and first person . so much so that the above aircraft has a full set of flight instruments that work and give you fairly accurate readings on where you are and what you are doing in the aircraft. Many people fly their planes in first person view, and first person view is how people usually navigate inside buildings and confined spaces. Second Life is free, but has a bit of a learning curve to get used to, but it is as fun as you put in effort with it (and who you meet and make friends with).. there are plenty of things to do, including, but a lot more than flying.

It certainly can, the controls are a bit clunky due to limitations but we took a lot of time to make it look like the rl interior for mouse look (first person) fliers. If you want to check it out for yourself drop me a message (Tank Kwaszes) on SL i'll be glad to set up a demonstration for ya
