Quick sketch of VJ's two dogs, Corbin & Rhubarb, and her adopted Gryphon "pet", Aurealis.

There are two versions of Aurealis in my little troupe of characters. This version is the non-speaking feral, rescued from Premaria Island's Gryphoni'dia community after a particular mishap with their heads of state (the other version is a future fullsuit character, and adoptive brother to VJ - he however doesn't have a feral form, just a bipedal one).

Gryphons on Premaria Island have a very harsh standard with their offspring; a mating pair must produce two feral or bipedal speaking children within the period, both preferably female. Males are used as breeding fodder primarily. In Aurealis's case, he was born feral but with the inability to speak, which was frowned upon by the leading House families. He was scheduled to be publically executed as a reminder to the lower castes of what happens when breeding stock wasn't pureblood on both sides, during what was supposed to be a time of peace between the Dragons and Gryphons...but Velindra got involved and put an end to that, however much a social faux pas it was on her end (DSF: Origins Story 5).

Corbin and Rhubarb are at first wary of Aurealis, but later accept him as the "bigger dog" of their little pack, even though he has feathers. Aurealis communicates his needs via body language, chirps and trills. He forms a deep bond with Velindra during her time on his home island, and later with her many other pets.
