I won't lie, finding even a base colour scheme for this guy without stomping on someone else's toes within the fandom was a veritable PITA. I did think of going the sparklefur route with him at first but it didn't work, and Aurie is certainly NOT a sparkle-gryph! I did decide down the track that he and VJ would share very similar colouration pools, to keep it uniform between them that they were essentially the same person, me.

Aurie shares a number of common colours with VJ, with a few added bonuses of differentiating marking sets. I did want to keep him and her similar in personality, build and height, but markings-wise, the Hedgehog was a very simple creature (she only has bands of black on her face, nosebridge and ankles), whist the Gryphon just went overboard with them (because of his wings).

I liked the idea very much of his wing and tail feathers being interconnected colour-wise. He would share a great deal of bird physiology that way, and in drawn form, the wings dwarf him and make him look a lot taller than VJ. In truth, they share the exact same height: 5"10 - but Aurie's ears and wings make him look infinitely taller than her. He uses this as an excuse sometimes, but the Hedgehog can pluck him from that perch of his rather quick XD

I did also debate giving him the eagle talons for feet, but those are a bit of a bitch to navigate stairs with, and I'm NOT good with stairs and vertigo in general. He has regular fursuit feetpaws but with overly large claws. Hey, he has to compensate somehow I figure, ha!

Haven't yet added his tattoo as that's one of the final parts of his character. I will soon though =3
