CONFESSION TIME. I found a free tie dye pattern and used a clipping mask. P: The tie dye pattern was on the mask layer, and I colored in the shirt area on the layer the mask was attached to, so anywhere I colored was where the tie dye would show up.
Basically I cheated. P: It was 3 in the morning.
