Rooth

ToyDragon (http://dinosaursfromspace.tumblr.com/) was commissioned by me moons ago when I first decided to go on a cruise to celebrate the Yule, the Lunar Eclipse, and my birthday (all on the same day, zomg!). The thought of which inspired this piece, the 2nd in a sequence, as well as its predecessor. That ship in the background is the actual ship I was going to be on, which TD meticulously recreated in some engineering program for inclusion into this and the previous picture.

Between the time the commission began and, oh, sometime in November, the ship's engines caught fire, stranding thousands at sea with no power and little in the way of food not requiring power to cook. That's right, the infamous Carnival Splendor was my ship, and that's her in the background. Carnival refunded my cruise and my air fare, and gave me 25% off my next Carnival cruise anywhere in the world. Splendid! But unless they are God, they can't make the Yule, the Lunar Eclipse, and my birthday all conjoin on the same day again. I've been looking forward to this birthday for decades, ever since I first saw in some astronomy calendar that the eclipse was going to fall on my birthday (Therian thoughts of full-moon transformations may or may not have flitted through my head back then).

Though Rooth is not normally an inflatable, it is TD's specialty, and the scene at sea was a good fit for such a morph. Perforce, some of his coloration was tweaked to look more like a crafted vinyl pool toy than a mere squeaky shiny inflatable version of the 'real' Rooth. To wit, the blue swoops on the inside of his legs (not really visible here), the soles, the chin, and the inside of his arms are TD's own customizations. I think they look neat, even though they're not cannon (or is it canon).

This is another in a long-seeded and now growing interest I have in "helpful macro" pieces. More will trickle in, as artists I commissioned earlier this and last year finalize their work.
