Dr. Gigavolt - Thunder Strike by Prismara

Dr. Gigavolt - Thunder Strike

Prismara

I used to play City of Heroes, before some short-sighted moron axed it for a tax write-off.

Not that I'm bitter, or anything.

Anyway, I had a whole slew of characters before the end, and this is one of them.

This is Dr. Gigavolt. Or, with all the tags and badge titles he had by the end, 'The Omnipotent Dr. Gigavolt, Master of Science!' He was willing to let his lackeys call him 'Doctor', though, because otherwise it took forever to get anything done. He was one of my oldest characters. I had a couple of different origin ideas for Dr. Gigavolt that I never really settled on. Though it does occur to me that I could combine them. Long story short, electric-based mad science gone horribly awry resulted in imbuing him with the power of lightning. He had to build a containment suit to keep from zapping everything he touched. Or stood next to.

A lot of his enemies think that the suit gives him his powers, but it just lets him focus them into fancy electro-punches and things. Anyway, he was my Electric Melee/Electric Armor brute, and boy was he lots of fun. He's had that rubber-suit-with-circuits look since his conception. I tried a few different costumes, but I kept coming back to this one. Lots of stuff got added onto it over the years, like the gauntlets and shoulder cables and the chest plate, but I always kept the circuit bits. I recall there being a level range that was really rough going, but then they added a self-heal to the armor powerset, and I was able to get him to level fifty without too much trouble. Against some enemy types, he could be a bit fragile, like those thrice-accursed Dark Ring Mistresses from the Carnival of Shadows. But against foes using energy blasts? "Ha! You will find your weapons have no effect on me!"

I miss that game.
