    INK TECHNIQUES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! squeal

I am a fan of the work done with pen. :)

XD Well I make little atc cards, but for the most part it's marker work. :P I'm glad you like this one! :D

I've been trying to do ink stuff for October (Inktober), it's been lots of fun going back and using crosshatching and stippling...stuff you rarely see anymore. :)

        You're very welcome! :D

Hahahaha I need to do more traditional stuff. I got some cool Winsor & Newton pigment markers, recently. One's the white blender, and the other is light rose. I went to this event where they were showing them off, which is how I got those two. XD I'm considering getting the colourless blender and a number of the other colours to experiment with, because man... they're a very different experience from copics, and while both are awesome, I'd like to experiment a little more with these.

OH GOD HOW ARE THOSE MARKERS????? :o

I eye them everytime I am at Michael's. While the price tag is the same as Copic...I wish there was at least a basic color starter pack to try....... sobs I am very curious about the white blender...how does that work and what really does it do? :)

Well they do have a few different packs, including a skin tone one! I know it's not a starter pack, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Also, oh man. You definitely need smooth paper so that you can get the full experience with them, but when you have that paper... The ink is reactivated every time you go over it again, so you can blend and re-blend. And you can blend with your fingertips, or with the white/colourless marker. The white one draws out the colours and lightens them and is absolutely fabulous. I didn't get to try the colourless blender, but I saw some people use it, and it gives a watercolour effect. Copics are marvellous for fast and all, but these are more painterly, in a way, and I really, really wanna experiment with them more. But yeah, make sure you have the blenders, they're so, so cool.

Seriously, the colours are so vibrant and strong. I might have become very, very attached to pthalo blue, but shhhhh. XD So yeah! The white blender gives you so, so many shades if you use it with a darker/stronger colour. And they're very comfortable to work with, too.

I tend to use Bristol (smooth version, not vellum) paper for the vast majority of my traditional art...so smooth paper is no problem! :) I am really going to have to get some of these markers somehow. I should save up my money for a couple months and then buy some for myself for Christmas. I just stare at them in the plastic case every time I am in Michael's...they, unfortunately, don't have any packs of the markers--just the individual colors. I should hope for one of Michael's fabulous 40% off entire purchase coupons and buy a bunch! I really want to try them now that you said how awesome they are! :D

Is it possible they're behind the counters? At my Michaels, I thought they only had a set number of the individual copics, and no sets, but then it turned out they were all stored behind the counter, completely out of sight. If you do get yourself some, tell me how you find them! And yes, yes those coupons are very, very good things to have, going in.

Probably not at the Michael's here...they're bad at providing for actual artists (their main focus is crafts and picture framing, it's a small store). What they've got is what's in the aisles...but most of their markers are in locked cabinets. For sets, they've got cardboard sheets saying "take to the counter" to purchase. It's always weird to go there and look for someone to open the marker cabinets for you to buy things...they act like you're an annoyance. XD I wonder if they'll put some of that stuff on sale on Black Friday...I always go out on Black Friday and last year I bought one of the huge cases of Prismacolor colored pencils at a nearly stealable price! :)

Aaaah okay, that makes sense. The ones we have are more medium sized, I guess. They act like you're an annoyance? What? That seems... odd. And not conducive to a good customer experience. For shame, people. You didn't tell them to store the stuff you want in the cabinets, after all. Oh nice! If you get something especially great, tell me what you get! :D

Yeah...the staff at our Michaels pretty much don't seem enthused at working there! XD

I'll let'cha know if I snag good deals on Black Friday! I pretty much do all my shopping that day...I also like to laugh at the people acting crazy on that day! XD

                          That's really strange.

XD I don't remember if we've got Black Friday, but I'd rather stay in and not wait in long lineups. :P

I usually can't get out until the buses start running (6 a.m.), by that time most of the crazies have been shopping and done. XD Most of the "amazing deals" are gone (especially on electronics), but I'm usually not shopping for in-demand items. :)

Aaaah well that would certainly help you avoid the battle for Helm's Deep. XD
