Sunrise - Part 2

As Chip continued to stroll through the sunny forest, there was only one thing on his mind. Who was that girl that he saw at the lake? Was it someone he knew? Why did she suddenly disappear? Was it all in his head? He was walking his regular path back home through the forest, but keeping a keen eye out for anything - or anyone - passing by.

The wind had calmed down since the sun had come up, and the warmth of the sunshine on his face was calming. He had always enjoyed his morning strolls, but this one was special. The warm wind, the girl in the dress and her sudden disappearance. He couldn't stop thinking about that moment. She was right there, and then she was not.

For a few brief moments he thought he saw a glimpse of the girl's dress, but he didn't find anything when he went off the path to investigate further. He was somewhat tired from his morning stroll, and rather disappointed he didn't get to meet the girl he saw. Perhaps he would see her again tomorrow, when he goes on his daily stroll again.

He approached his house, which was just outside of the forest. He was lucky to be living here near the edge of the forest. It was quiet, yet nice. The ambience coming from the forest was always a pleasure to him, as he loved the calming sounds of crickets, birds, and sometimes the wind blowing through the trees as well. Chip opened the door to his house and walked inside.

Walking to the kitchen, he decided to take a quick cup of coffee before he started working on his stories. He had not worked on them for quite a while, but he was meaning to catch up on them. It would be especially a good time now that he saw this girl, as he used to enjoy writing down his daily thoughts, much like a journal.

He took the cup of coffee that he made and walked over to the desk in his office. It wasn't a very big office. There was a chair, a desk, and a window right above it. On the desk there was a typewriter, which seemed to have last been used a couple days ago, when he apparently decided to write a grocery list.

He sat down, took the grocery list out of the typewriter and put it next to a pile of paper. He still needed to get those groceries some time, anyway. He took a sip from his coffee as he prepared his typewriter for new writings. He rested his head on his hand as he looks out the window and thinks. "She was really pretty," he thought, fully realizing he had not even seen her face.

As he looked outside, he noticed some leaves flying around the side of the house. Clearly the wind has started picking up again. Chip just stared out the window and sighed as he could only think about the girl at the lake. This is why he never wrote anything, he would always be too deep in thought to actually write something.

"Maybe a nap will be beneficial," he said to himself. He stood up from his chair and began to walk towards his room, his mind still deep in thought about the girl, the weather, and the grocery list on his desk that he really needed to pay attention to. He sat on the bed and sighed again just before lying down.

And as he closed his eyes, three knocks on the door could be heard.
