Sunrise - Part 1

Chip whistled as he walked home from his daily stroll through the forest. It was a morning like any other, except for a remarkable wind that was blowing through the forest. It was cold, like most other windy days commonly on display in January.

But it wasn't every day that he noticed a couple warm winds flow through his stretched out wings. It was a wonderful feeling, the combination of the warm wind and the regular cold wind. Where would this warm wind be coming from? Bemused, he looked around for anything significant to catch his eye.

On the left of him there was a large rock formation, which he sometimes would fly up to and sit on to ponder about life. There was a pond with a fallen tree over it, which incidentally covered most of the view over the lake which was made famous for its beautiful surface. "Too bad," he thought. He could've flown up on the rock formation to see the lake, but he was too deep in thought about the warm wind.

He looked a little bit to the right. To Chip's surprise, there was someone sitting on the fallen tree, looking over at the lake. Weird. Usually there's nobody out here this early in the morning. The person, which he could see was a girl even if he couldn't see her face, had long hair flowing over her back. She was wearing a white bodice and a long white dress, which glistered in the light of the sunrise as her orange-tinted tail swished around behind her.

Puzzled but intrigued by the girl at the lake, he decided to move a little bit closer. The warm winds became more apparent as he walked off the forest path to get closer to the pond. His wings felt the wind, and soon the warmth of the sun as it started to rise higher. The girl just sat there staring at the lake, motionless. It was a beautiful sight for Chip, as he stood on the edge of the pond.

They both stared at the sky, as the light of the sun suddenly and surprisingly came through, blasting sunlight into his eyes. As he closed his eyes he could enjoy the warmth of the sun over his face. This is why the girl was sitting there, he thought. She clearly also loved this. He slowly opened his eyes a bit, squinting.

The girl was gone.
