Snakeparade by Menagerie

Snakeparade

Menagerie

In the spring all the little critters put on their annual parade. On year a snake came along and wanted to be in it as well, but with no arms or legs he couldn't march or play. Gloomy after being rejected he watched from the sides, and reflected about what it was that he could do. Suddenly he realized he did have a skill that could help him, and he found a way to be in the parade after all.

First coloring work in SAI. Coloring is so much easier there than in OpenCanvas.

Initially I came up with the bare bones of a ballad poem to explain what was going on, but the more I worked on it the more I realized that writing poetry is not a skill I presently posses. I'm actually hoping that the panel layout can tell the story well enough on it's own.

I'm trying to develop a bit of a cartoony skill since cartoons are so good at expressing their emotions, so I make little cartoony doodles when I'm getting stuck at times. I always loved those really old toons where the characters nomed on each other, and then were then very nonchalant after being swallowed. Sometimes even continuing on with what they were doing before. Cartoon logic rocks.

    I still like this. :} The expression the snake has in the top middle panel, though, it's very 'derp excited', in a way. Hehe.

      He has come upon a wondrous solution! One where everybody wins. Well, in his mind anyway.

        From what I remember, the rabbits are totally fine with it too. :}

          Well the show must go on. But then, maybe they don't really mind being in costume now either. ^^
