The hamster perched so cutely on his head is none other than Boo, a "miniature giant space hamster" and the animal companion of the Ranger Minsc from the Baldur's Gate series of games. I'm not much of a gamer. In fact, I downright suck at them. But I have played a few in my time, and there are one or two that I utterly adore. Baldur's Gate and its sequel, and expansions, have always been among my very favorites, and it probably helps that Minsc and Boo are really adorable.
