But She's a Girl! by Megan Bryar

But She's a Girl!

Megan Bryar

"But Mom, how can Fiachra be my daddy? She's a girl."

As Rebecca looked up to Liane for an answer to her question, Fiachra exchanged an amused glance with Liane that, fortunately, went right over their young daughter's head. Trust her kid to have the same sort of insatiable curiosity that had guided her throughout all her life and which had, incidentally, gotten her where she was today. It was as much proof of kinship as her dark hair and stockings, or the cute little freckles and fangs she'd gotten from Liane. Smiling gently, Fiachra ruffled Rebecca's hair and she knelt down so she could talk to her daughter face to face.

"It all started with an innocent question just like yours, and a golden amulet your grandmother left to me," Fiachra said.

Daughter Saga Part 3 -

Ah, the perils of unregarded magic amulets and their affect on your family life. For those of you who don't know, Fiachra, the rabbit on the left, was originally quite male. She was recently transformed into a female by an enchanted gold locket that came to her as a family heirloom, and she has since elected to remain female more or less permanently, seeing this as her real self.

However, just before this transformation occurred, Fiachra and Liane enjoyed an intimate rendezvous together. This resulted in a strong friendship between the two of them, and a darling daughter who clearly takes after both of them quite a bit. But never fear. While Rebecca may find her family life to be a tad on the exotic side, you can be sure she will be loved and cherished by both of her parents.

Aren't kids just so adorable at that age, with all their awkward questions?

Yeah.....you can say that cause YOU didn't have to explain it to her!

On the other hand, at least Rebecca HAS two parents. Imagine the awkward pause when Deborah asked Megan how come she didn't /have/ a father like all the other kids. Or why she'd never had a father, period!
