Big Jack Hawthorne by LordDominic

Big Jack Hawthorne

It's about productivity, or the illusion thereof. The feeling that in finishing something, I am accomplishing something, anything, even if that feeling is quickly fleeting, and it drives me to make increasingly lazy and repetitive art just to have that momentary feeling that I actually did something.

The poses are repetitive, the proportions are often a bit off, and there's numerous little mistakes, but I just keep going not because I want to, but because I feel like I have to.

Figuring out what Dominic "Big Jack" Hawthorne's purpose was happened in a very similar way to what happened with Dominika and Nico.
I was in a particularly bad mood and decided to go for a walk, taking advantage of the frighteningly pleasant weather in early February. I realized that all this time, I had given Jack what I really, truly want in life... he owns his own house, he has a couple extra rooms and he can take in friends and animals that need a place to stay for a while. All those random characters based off random stuffed animals I have accumulated likely live with Jack on his small farm, with Tino helping Jack care for them all.

He's able to help others, both in giving actual helpful advice and guidance, but also in being able to provide some level of actual, meaningful, material support, and he is free to do so. He's the perfect Dad Friend, if you can deal with him being a weird donkey man with some awkward mannerisms.

He might not have any weird superpowers, best I can tell he can't transform into some superpowered demon monster, or conjure shields, or channel magical energy far beyond the expected physical limitations of his body unharmed, nor is he physically strong beyond what his physical form should allow... yet he's somehow far more impressive in that he is both willing, and more importantly able, to help.

The photo in the background is from one of my walks in early 2023, almost a year old by the time this posts. Living out in the country currently, I am in an area with no shortage of "No Outlet" and "Road Ends" signs, signs that I certainly vibe with more and more as time goes on.
