Furry Writing Awards by LaurenRivers

Furry Writing Awards

LaurenRivers

My thoughts on the furry writing awards available in the fandom, and why I support the Coyotl Awards over the Ursa Majors.

While I'm at it, I recommend the following writers.

poetigress
Phil Geusz

Opinions are welcome, as long as you're here to discuss. Please correct me if I've been inaccurate anywhere, but respect my opinion even if it is different than yours. Thank you.

Phil Geusz is the #1 furry writer that I know of. I DO have to admit to a bit of prejudice, since he tends to use rabbits and rabbitdom as his main characters, though always showing us what it means to be a good member of society as the main theme. Some of his writing is reminiscent of Heinlein in his heyday, but he's no follower of footprints. He has his own stories and parables to tell and he does so wonderfully. I've read everything of his I can get my sticky little bunny-paws on.....more than once....and loved it all every time!

Oh yeah, I love his work. It's smart, well written, and while I wish he'd use more zebras, hey, can't complain when you find a good furry writer. There are only a few of them as far as I'm concerned. Poetigress, Phil Geusz, and Cirrel is remarkably good as well.

I admit I'm rather picky, and have rather exacting standards, but I always considered that if you get my seal of approval, you know you're doing something right. ;)

So, which of those gives better odds to relatively unknown writers?

The problem is if you're relatively unknown you're unlikely to win either. IMHO, the Coyotls are more fair, but they require you to do your homework first. The Ursas..... Sort of require you to have a large fanbase already.
