Hoofbeats pounded the dirt as Lauren hurried after the mysterious subject that had attacked her. She had interrupted them as they had stolen an artifact from her possession and run off into the forest. Branches clawed at her face and arms in her effort to keep up with the thief. They seemed to be running on four legs. She could hardly match their pace, but as she entered a small clearing, the figure disappeared into a mirror.

"What in the world?" Lauren asked. She stepped closer and touched the surface of the glass. It rippled like the surface of a pond. Not wanting to let the thief get away, she hurried through.

As she stumbled her way through the bright light, she fell forward and passed out. When she came to, she shook her head and attempted to stand. Her hands felt stiff. Lauren rose to all fours, but found she could not stand. "What?" She looked at her hands. Hooves? Those weren't meant to be there. She was supposed to walk on two hooves, not four. What had happened to her hands? For that matter, what had happened to her body?

"Where am I?"

A short distance away rested an unconscious winged unicorn mare. She stirred slowly and turned. "Oh, who are you?"

"My name is Lauren. I came from... Somewhere else. Through that mirror. I'm not normally like this."

Celestia looked at her own body. "My name is Princess Celestia. I'm... A pony, yet not. Something has changed me as well."

"I need your help. I can't go home without the artifact the thief stole. Not to mention getting my form back, which I guess you borrowed." Lauren looked at the humanoid equine.

Celestia nodded. "I changed as soon as the mirror activated the first time. When you came through, you were as I am. I suspect we are linked."

Lauren whinnied. "Yes, we must be."

"I will help you, young pony."

"You might wish to cover up first, ma'am. The humanoids in my world prefer to wear fabric when with others."

"OH." Celestia grabbed a nearby tablecloth, having suddenly realized her nakedness.

Surely these ponies didn't run around naked, Lauren wondered.
