Rabbits Don't Like Snow by Lappy

Rabbits don’t like Snow

Lappy pokes his head out of the ground

He’s so cautious he barely shows his chin

Daring to take a break from home sweat mound

The kiss of snow makes him dart back in

A second time the daring rabbit raises his ears

Like a periscope searching for his fears

The wind howls as it blows

Yet he lets the frost nip his nose

What fun there is to be had here!

So full of things that are new

This place that inspires wonder and cheer!

Then back to the hole after a loud “A - CHOO!”

“This cold tickles my nose and makes me sneeze

I can’t stay long in this biting breeze

Surely rabbits stay in holes, less they freeze!

My nose is already numb, geez!

So Lappy reluctantly locked the door

Grumbling that his hole was a terrible bore

But the white stuff coaxed him back for more

“I’m not gunna let fear stop me from having fun” he swore

So Lappy jumped with glee and played hard

His ability to enjoy life was no longer barred

He bravely leapt into a different world

Around the snow he leaped and twirled

“God, let me be normal – rabbits don’t like snow”

he once desperately prayed

But the urges to be in the frost made him go

Now he is no longer afraid

Rabbits Don't Like Snow

The first poem i ever wrote as a furry - id say...about a year and a half ago. The theme has to do with facing your fears - and if you are LGBT then you might catch the extra coming out of the closet references in there. That's because i wrote it right as I came out of the closet. If you are not LGBT - but just enjoy the poem, then that's ok too :-)
