I often look at my age old pieces and still cannot figure out for the life of me how I knew how to shade back then. The biggest part was hair/fluff which I used to do really cool-like. Clothes looked pretty decent at times as well. Just doesn't look quite right to me when I do it now, but it only makes sense to keep trying until it happens.

Also threw in a texture since I used to overlay those as well. I think I should make my own textures and scan them someday. I can't ever seem to find ones I'm looking for anymore. But even so, it doesn't always feel right to take textures from Google, even if they're labeled for fair use. Something something DIY something...

OMG. This looks excellent! My day is made, possibly my week... and month really. Seriously, I love this.

I can feel you on trying to recapture old techniques though. This might sound a bit obvious, but do you have old .psds (or whatever equivalent to your program) saved? If not, I recommend keeping older ones. Sometimes the best thing is to pick apart old pieces... layers and all, modes of the layers, anything else... you can learn a lot from yourself I think. I sometimes make speedpaints too, sometimes that's all I really need to look through my progress.
Personally, I think you did a good job on the clothes especially though, I like the little details like the string of the hoodie being bent by his hand. It's really subtle, but it's little stuff like that can add a lot of realism that's just sort of felt.

Anyways, thank you so much, this really is wonderful, and best of luck on art!

I'm so very glad to hear that, you're welcome :]

While I do have the old .ai files, they're on two other computers that I'd need to put in a bit of work to access again... But I'm sure I can still get by with doing enough studying of the old uploads—maybe even directly recreating them without posting publicly. It's more so that I've sort of lost the eye for knowing what (and how many) colors would be the best to use, and how the hair/fur would surround an area (where it'd part, and stuff). It's a lot of back and forth wondering what would look too cluttered or too lacking. I have my hopes up though. Thanks for all the encouragement!

That’s really amazing! I like the color scheme you’ve put with this character! It’s really energizing. :)
