Drow and Trow by Karla-Chan (critique requested)

Drow and Trow (critique requested)

Karla-Chan

Drow or Trow are fay or fairy like creatures from the Orkney, and Shetland Islands of the British Isles. Although Trow is a generic term for a set of folklore creatures, since you also get Sea Trow. Drow live underground and are nocturnal creatures; venturing out of their 'Trowie Knowes' (earthen mound dwellings) solely in the only evening, and cannot be in daylight very much like the Trolls Scandinavian in legend.

They are malignant and mischievous but, are shy around humans and don’t like to be near them. Some tales say that they are invisible and only a few gifted humans can even see them. Although some tales declared that a Drow could appear to humans, and even pass for a human. Although usually old, or deformed - in general they were said to be short, ugly, stunted creatures and considerably smaller than a man.

They don’t like being near humans, and will sneak into homes at night and steal babies. They are also known to have a great fondness of music and there are folktales that tell of their habit of kidnapping musicians or luring them to their dens. Some Shetland fiddle tunes are said to have come to human fiddlers when they heard the Drows playing.

So any way, I hope you enjoy the 3rd of my series of creatures of the British Isles.

That is cool. I am really happy that you do! I really hope I can get more done soon! I have just been so busy at the moment! However I am keen to get back to some pen and paper!

Don't rush it: quality before quantity, my friend!

I especially like how you give the descriptions of the creatures along with it. That adds a lot -- if I don't know anything about the kind of creature you have drawn, it gives me some context for appreciating what you put in the picture.

Well I have a friend who has been doing the same bit with Norse folk creatures. I really liked it and well she really liked the idea of me doing an British Isles one. However I think researching them helps me get a better feel for them.

I have just been slow in general this month which is bad, especially since I am going away for most of next month... I also have a Patreon... So yeah I need to pull my finger out a little bit more and get busy!

Although it is great to hear your comments, and I am happy you like the fact I talk about them. Since I have been researching them. To be able to write about them!
