Halloween! What better time for an owl to swoop about and scare/thrill all the little kiddies with talk of how he's going to gobble them up! What a wonderful time to capture trick-or-treaters, surprise them at the front door, show them their friends disappearing into a hungry beak! What a magnificent time indeed, lurking in the shadows of the woods, reach out and grab kids one at a time off the path! And eventually you're left with a gigantic pile of candy, and one last frightened morsel to play with while you wash down his friends with the candy they got, right before sending him down as well..

That's what the owls that lurk out there think.

Of course, I wouldn't tell you this tale if it was true. There's nothing to fear out in the woods. So just remember, however dark and scary the streets are, it's nothing to be afraid of. There's no dark silhouette of owl by the flickering street lamp, it's just overactive imagination on a night all about scary things.
