Anatomy
Golars are one of the more Human-looking Otacaians besides the Opar-Han and Dinaks, but are rather short compared to the other Otacaians, with the exception of the Bannarai. They have diminutive dwarf-like bodies and each individual can be slightly taller or smaller. They are rather stout, stocky and bulky in appearance.

They all have light blue skin with furry reddish hair focused mainly on the tops of their heads, their faces (males), chests, arms, legs, and personal areas. They have naturally muscular bodies. Males tend to grow long beards as a sign of beauty. Females do not grow beards and have very little facial hair and have feminine breasts. Both sexes embroider their hair into different styles.

They have large, rounded, Chimpanzee-like ears and Human-like eyes with white corneas, round irises which can range in color from blue, purple, green, gray, and red, their pupils are the same as their iris color, giving them the appearance of having no pupils. They have thick arms with five fingered hands which are tough and meaty, with blue claws. They have short, defined thighs and calves, with big feet with four toes with blue toenails.

Golars are one of the few Otacaians, save for the Opar-Han who are tolerant of high altitudes due to having higher oxygen saturation.

Personality
Golars are an energetic, intelligent, courageous, rowdy and very proud people who will stand up for what they believe in and do not wish for their opinions to be silenced. The Golars have a reputation for also being stubborn and hot-headed. They treat every day as an adventure and loathe redundancy.

Terrakinesis
Some Golars have the power to harness Earth and metal, this power is called Terrakinesis. Terrakinesis users are capable of moving earth, creating small earthquakes, some skilled users can even manipulate and shape materials out of dirt, and also rocks, gemstones, glass, and sand.

Domain
The Golars live on the continents of Rehon, Egur, and Seilan in the Southern Tropic of Otacaia, close to the Lonely Brothers.

Government
The Golar Sodality is ran only by males, no females may have any governmental roles. The Government is ruled by a series of governors from each city throughout the Sodality, known as High-Fathers, who answer to the king of the Golar Sodality, who is called the Grand High-Father. The Grand High-Father is usually elected from a High-Father from different cities through popular vote.

Culture and Society
Because of their anatomy and due to the fact they were relegated to the roles of miners and stonemasons under the Torai during the Collective Era, their culture is focused around mining and they have remarkable physical endurance.

They are traditionally patriarchal and gerontocratic, males outnumber females 5 to 1 and each family is run by the grandfather. The children of each family must get the grandfather’s blessing in order to move out, get married, or have children. It is typically the grandfather who also manages the money of the household. When a grandfather dies, his eldest son succeeds him. Any disputes between two family members must be overseen and settled by the grandfathers.

Golars are exogamous as females become permanent members of new families upon marriage to their husbands, divorce was not an option and only recently became something new and common practice. There still are taboos against couples getting divorced, but it isn’t as strong as it was years ago. The children are members of their father’s clans. It is taboo to marry someone with the exact surname. Orphans or children from other families can be adopted and take on the new family’s surname.

Long beards among males and long hair among both sexes are signs of beauty and they take great pride in them, braiding them and adorning them into different styles. A Golar shaving their facial hair or cutting their hair is seen as unusual, though some Golars prefer to be clean-shaven or short haired, and this trend is starting to become acceptable.

Golar culture is known for being very heteronormative, like the Jithrans, and Golar culture has a reputation for being very discriminatory toward non-heterosexual individuals. The Golars have historically been repressive to their non-heterosexual members. The majority believe homosexuality is unnatural and those who are homosexual are expected to “hide their true selves”. Recently however, certain cities within the Golar Sodality have started to become slightly accepting of homosexual relationships. The Golars don’t have a concept of nonbinary or trans individuals.

Males are generally more respected than females, and females only begin being shown respect only after baring children. Female Golars have traditionally served a subservient role to the males. The females are expected to stay at home, raise the children, do the cooking, cleaning, sewing, laundry, and all the housework. Female Golars are highly discouraged from participating in the military, in politics, or any “men’s occupation”.

Despite this, females are considered citizens of the Golar Sodality, they can leave the house to visit friends and family, do errands, and are allowed to vote. Golar children are educated differently from each other. Young male Golars are taught by older males and young females are taught by older females.

Like the Dinaks, the Golars are very wary of other Otacaians coming into their territories, this is understandable as before The Fall, they were considered members of The Low Ones and have suffered discrimination from the other Otacaians.

Golars have an aversion to bare feet and feet in general as they see that part of the body as filthy, even more so than the genital areas.

Clothing
Males usually have thick beards and long hair decorated in a wide variety of styles.

Males will usually wear a Koli (a jester-like hat), a beanie, a leather cap, or metal helmets. Males wear long tunics and trousers held up with a belt or a sash. Over this outfit, they will wear a single large sheet of fabric like a poncho for additional protection from the cold.

Females will decorate their hair in a wide range of styles and kept under a cloth cap, a hood, or leather hats. They will wear a long-sleeved gown with a full-body double sided apron over this gown. The females will also wear the same poncho fabric over this outfit again for additional protection from the cold.

All Golars wear large boots to protect their feet from the rugged terrain and the weather. Both sexes are known to tattoo their bodies with different patterns in red ink from the Omir plant. Female Golars are known to tattoo their mouth areas with red ink to give the appearance of beards and mustaches, they are also known to tattoo their arms, legs, and chests to mimic masculine body hair.

Food
The Golars are omnivorous. They eat green, leafy vegetables, tubers, starches, roots, grain, and cereals. For meat, they eat fish, rodents, livestock, and birds. They like to season their food with spices. They drink milk, have fruit in the form of berries, and usually eat their food with a loaf of bread, which is their main source of carbohydrates. They make beer and ale from grains. Their famous cuisine is Root Stew, all variations of this dish are different and no two are the same, but it contains any kind of meat that can be found, meat or vegetable stock, grains, roots, starches, and vegetables. It is usually eaten with a loaf of bread or can be eaten in a bread bowl with cheese.
