Pharae
The Pharae are the most advanced race in Otacaia, and were at the top of the Torai as the highest of the High Ones during the Collective Era. They established themselves as the first civilized society, thousands of years before the other races of Otacaia. They ruled the other races with an iron fist thanks to their psychokinetic powers. However, as the number of psychokinetic users began to dramatically decrease, they have lost their hold on Otacaia’s society. They originate from the beautiful Mediterranean lands of Phara, but many now live in the floating city of Pharos or Sanctuary on the surface of the planet.

Appearance
The Pharae, like the Dinaks, are an intersex species. They give off the appearance of vaguely anthropomorphic, angelic, white peacocks. They have large, eyes, two earholes, and a wavy crown of white feathers on the tops of their heads. They have large, semi-hard beaks containing nostrils.

They have long, thin necks, small shoulders, thick, round torsos, tiny waists, wide hips, swollen thighs, and bird-like lower legs resembling that of a chicken, which contains three toes with a sharp, black talon at each end. They have thin, Human-like arms with five fingered hands which has an opposable thumb. Their hands are witch-like in appearance, being bony with sharp claws at the tips of the fingers.

The Pharae are covered in feathers from their heads, down to their necks, covering their torsos, waists, and thighs. Their lower legs and arms have no feathers. They have long, bird-like wings which can stretch up to 16-20 feet. They can grow up to 6'0-6'2 and they are relatively lightweight people. The Pharae can reproduce asexually.

The Pharae have a unique vocal structure. They have a syrinx located at the bottom of their trachea. They can pronounce words with esophageal speech, the force of the air replicating certain words through their beaks. With vowels, they move their tongues forward and backwards in their beaks.

Personality
Pharae have an adherence to order, obedience, discipline, and honor. They have a remarkable stoicism, high resistance to change and have very strong social expectations. Many other Otacaians often experience them as snobby and impertinent. Interspecies relationships of a romantic nature can make them very uncomfortable. They are very prudish, as even public acts of affection are considered obscene to the Pharae. They believe that they are the “true” Otacaians, and that nature had selected them to reign over the “animals”, as they call non-Pharae.

Psychokinesis
A very rare few Pharae have a power called Psychokinesis, which allows them to move or manipulate objects with their mind. The user can manipulate the powers of others, use the power of levitation, or can even use mind control. Psychokinesis was a widespread power among the Pharae and they abused that power, using it on the other Otacaians to maintain their control throughout the planet.

Psychic Conscious Takeover
Psychic Conscious Takeover is a telepathic weapon used by the Pharae on other Otacaians. It was a form of mental violence which in the past was common among the Pharae, but it was harshly punishable and later it became acceptable to conduct this atrocity on other Otacaians, either for disciplinary measures or for the assailant's entertainment. It involved the Pharae entering their victims' minds and memories and warping them into something physically painful and horrific and can be continued for a repeated period. After this, the victim will suffer physical pain and emotional trauma.

Domain
The Pharae originated from Phara and set up their capital, the City of Pharaos within the Seat of The Gods. However, during the Fall, they rose Pharaos into the skies with their secretive technology.

Politics
The Pharae are the most technologically advanced of all the Otacaians, even more so than the Enalla. In stories before the Fall, there were tales of marvels that the Pharae used, such as “living palanquins” and it was rumored they were even able to travel to space, to the Three Moons, they have even been able to make cities float in the air. It is known however that they never used Eizo, like the other Otacaians do now, much of their technology and how they utilized it remains a secret. Even Pharae who have been exiled to the planet have had their brains altered to prevent themselves from speaking about their technology.

Government
The Pharae are divided into two main governments: The Pharae Order which operates in Pharaos and The Pharae Order in Exile which operates in the surface in Sanctuary, in the Madran Ocean.

The Dyad
The Dyad are the rulers of the Pharae, usually consisting of two Pharae. They once acted as the de-facto rulers of Otacaia as all the other races once answered to them. The two rulers were bound together out of service and duty. When one of the Dyad dies, the surviving one will choose a replacement.

Culture
The Pharae strongly value order, power, and privilege above all else. Their belief in their advancement in technology and their psychokinetic powers gave them the right to control the other races of Otacaia. Their culture revolved around psychokinesis and technology, and they are very collectivist as a people, every Pharae is expected to behave the same way, like the same things, hate the same things.

They also value control, loathing chaos and disorder and are also noted for being very secretive. A prudish and sexually repressive people, they repressed their natural sex drives through a combination of medication, laws, and brainwashing, to the point they found the idea of sex disgusting, perverse, and animalistic.

They reproduce asexually through parthenogenesis, taking medication to eliminate any pleasurable feelings. They adopt a nonbinary identity, and believe gender to be primitive, and limited to inferior beings. It is hard for the Pharae to accurately understand the differences and customs between males and females of other species. To consider identifying with a gender is viewed as obscene.

The Pharae have justified their historical treatment of the other Otacaians with the idea that if any of the other Otacaians were stronger than them, they would rise and eliminate them. It was this mindset that allowed them to establish a firm grip on the other races, preventing them from doing so.

The majority do not date or form romantic relationships with the other Otacaians, believing them to be primitive animals, but they do view certain races, particularly the Enalla as attractive. A majority of Pharae are more interested in emotional or spiritual forms of romance rather than physical romance.

Subculture
In the past, non-Psychokinetic Pharae were eliminated as defects. As the Pharae children born without Psychokinesis began appearing at high rates, they judged these Pharae as “unwanted” and were exiled. These individuals, known as Exiles, live in seclusion in Sanctuary Island on Otacaia.

Some have come to reject the medications that suppress their sexual urges and have begun to reproduce with others and even form relationships with the other Otacaians, however, a majority still view themselves as superior to the other Otacaians.

Though, a few numbers of Exiles have begun to leave Sanctuary to live among the other Otacaians to get to know them. Exiles still arrive to Sanctuary Island, though these Exiles were kicked out of Pharaos for criminal acts or for being born without Psychokinesis.

There is now a division among the Exiles, there is the older group who were exiled for not having Psychokinesis and there are newer groups who were exiled from Pharaos for criminal acts. The first-generation descendants of the Exiles tend to distance themselves from these “criminals”.

Clothing
Pharae usually wear a long, high-collared, floor-length long-sleeved gown with holes in the back for their wings to fit through. They will then put on a small, beaded waist apron on the lower part of the gown and tied at the waist. Over this they will wear a short thigh-length, short-sleeved tunic with a sash tied over the tunic and around the waist. The tunic also has holes for the wings to go through. Over the tunic they will wear a sleeveless vest, also with holes in the back for their wings to go through. This vest will have long, quajian-like cloth pendants with beads or tassels extending the chest area to the stomach area, sometimes with smaller versions of these decorations extending to the floor. Usually, their clothes will be completely white with light blue, light green, gray, or gold patterns along their clothing.

Food
The Pharae are omnivorous. They mainly eat grain, plants, berries, vegetables, leaves, fruits, seeds, flowers, small or large insects, small mammals, candies, reptiles and amphibians, eggs from small birds. In the past, they would eat their unfertilized eggs, but this practice is now considered horrifying. Because of their secretive nature, much of their cuisine is not known.
