Though he wasn't aware of it, he waited. He waited for nearly 20 years, retaining youth and stepping outside the bounds of time while those sharing his birth year grew old, had children, whose children had children, and whose children's children had children. One could fit 6 generations in the time he spent frozen. 

The life he left was one of excitement. It was the era of legends. A time where the lab was nothing more than a startup, and those within its fences could just break a chain-link and be free.

The one he was returning to? Drought. Famine. The death of three prides. 

Terror of being out of time will creep up on him. But for now, he doesn't know any of what is to come. For now, he waits.
