Alabama Clay I & II by Haubitze

Alabama Clay I & II

Haubitze

I was told they look waaaaaaay better in person, but...

Acrylic, specialty paint, native red clay gathered from the depths of the backyard, on canvas.

There is a lot of copper, patina, metallics, and iridescence that was not picked up very well in the photographs. The two pieces catch light in many different areas when viewed from various angles. Each canvas is coated in several layers of polyurethane so that you can feel the different textures without damaging the paintings.

You made these? I love em! Always had a fascination with metals and their progression through breaking down

I'm so glad somebody likes these! I only started doing stuff on canvases earlier this year, these were the second and third canvases I had ever touched. I really loved working on them though, it was good for my depression and kept my mind busy.

I decided to splurge a bit after I made these and got some paints that have actual iron oxide and copper in them, and a chemical activator for making rust and patina. I'm REALLY looking forward to making something with those, I just don't know what yet!
