They're great snakes to have around, especially in the garden! They'll sometimes eat slugs, so whenever I run into a garter snake I bring them over to the garden and hope they stick around for at least a little while.

Yeah. It's a bit far away, sadly, I don't think the snakes would be too amused about being carried by a jogger for a mile and a half.

Haha you never know! This garter snake REALLY enjoyed being held, and even sat in the tub with me while I took a bath. With how tame they were, and the unusually bright colors they had, I was a little worried he/she was someone's pet that escaped. I asked around though and never got any information.

Gorgeous capture. I especially love all of the subtle tonal shifts in the scales depending on lighting and position.

I see them sunning themselves on the running trails these days, I didn't realize that there were so many around where I live.
