During the last couple of days, the weather had been pretty crazy, especially for summertime. Hard rain and downpours, heavy thunderstorms, hail, everything you would expect from April, all crammed into the first days of June.
And for days Kuraiko and Sascha had not been able to play outside and the boys were getting pretty restless, with too much stored up energy they could not burn away.
So when the rain finally died down a little on a Saturday morning, the two cubs took their chances.
Right after breakfast they started bouncing up and down, pleading to be allowed to go outside and play on the playground a few blocks away.
Again the full program, including puppy eyes, being totally snuggly, pleading and pouting. And finally, after having not much success with their step mum, their step dad finally gave in.
Dads are big boys after all.
So right after the dishes were done, both Sascha and Kuraiko got dressed into some of their favorite clothes, with the little ursine ending up wearing jeans overalls and a purple hoodie and his brother wearing skirtalls, shirt and a cute pink and yellow hooded jacket. Plus a good deal of protection beneath their clothing, that one goes without saying. Not the usual pullups, but one of their thicker taped diapers, to keep them save and dry.
And of course their favorite plushies, Minoru the white tiger and Sammy the lynx, had to go with them. "All right boys, ready to go?" their dad asked, holding open the door for them.
"YEEES!" the brothers shouted in unison, basically bouncing up and down on their toes already.
"Well, then, have fun and remember, stay at the playground… the woods are too muddy, the rain has softened up the ground pretty goo…"
"WHEEEEE!"
Before their dad had time to finish the sentence, both cubs had already departed and where out of sight in a minute. "Boys" he chuckled.
A couple of minutes later they arrived at the playground. Sadly the playground had already been taken over by a couple of other kids, including one of the neighborhood bullies. Not that they could not hold their own or usually just ignore him, they decided not to bother with him this time.
Instead they left for their favorite spot in the woods, with a little stream running through a glade, and started playing there. With the heavy rain of the past days, the ground was very wet and muddy and the stream had almost doubled in size .. but both Kurai and Sascha didn't care.
Or in fact, they simple didn't think about it anymore.

By the time they returned home, both cubs were totally drenched from both the stream and the wet grass. Although the wetness wasn't really the worst … it was the mud. Big muddy stains on their clothes, their faces, their fur… it was everywhere. Miraculously however their plushies seemed to have escaped the muck completely. In high spirits the cubs walked home, but they didn't get very far.
"Oh my gosh … boys, what have you done?" Their mother had opened the front door and was confronted with a pair of wet, muddy, mucky little boys.
Dripping and blushing furiously Kuraiko and Sascha tried to charm their way out.
"Uuuuhm…nuffin! We did nuffing… at all. That was all..uhm….." ^.^'
