An overdue picture for my friend Russet! His hare Quinten reclining lakeside while regarding the viewer; he's in charge of the forest (no, not that Forest), so he's probably wondering what they're doing here...
I've been working on this picture for a good few days now! I've really wanted to improve the quality of my color works, and I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the background, the character shading, the water especially...And then a chance mistake with one of the background layers led me to throw most of that out and just stick with the version you see here! Honestly, it works a looot better to keep the feel of the piece focused on Quinten, as in an early WIP everything felt very...muddled. Same-y. Too consistent? Like the importance was split between background, the character, and the water. Now it's more cohesive and feels like an actual scene, and less like a stock "character posing with poorly rendered background" piece.
I learned so much in such a short amount of time. I already want to do another colored piece sometime, haha. This was a lot of fun, and Russet loved it too!
