Game of the Week #9: Spirits @ Cosmonauts

FHL

With the playoff picture closed, the final Game of the Week and Game of the regular season pits Rocky Mountain Rivals St. Louis and Houston against each other for some last minute bragging rights. For Houston, it was a year of promise. The Cosmonauts came out this season swinging. With the help of a good draft by Tobu and guidance from new assistant general manager DL Leonine the Cosmonauts brought a powerful offensive prowess that scored in bunches, ending the year tied for 5th in Goals Allowed. Unfortunately, unable to feed their offensive energy into comparable defence, and with a renewed Victoria chugging along strongly, the Cosmonauts fell out of Playoff contention with a week and a half to go.

For the Spirits it was a rough but winning ride. Starting the season off near the bottom of the division, and having lost their best forward to early retirement, the Spirits for a time did not look like they were going to become repeat victors of the division. However, by mid season, their star goalie Halfred Sunderson got back into winning form, and with skaters Joshua Underhill, Chris Bartholomew, Phoenix Audubon and Skye Goodfellow finding their stride, they were about to charge back into the Division lead as the season closed, and the Spirits won the Division soundly.
