The Melon Bird by Feather Dancer

The Melon Bird

Feather Dancer

The Melon Bird is a bit unusual when it comes to fruits given it’s odd habit of looking for anything that has fallen past it’s best ripening and acting like a clean up crew, one of very few fruit species known to do this. They will never tackle a live Fruit but can be partial to tidbits. As most of the Melon sub species are brightly coloured they are not usually seen in the air unless clearly traveling to try and stop something getting the idea to tackle them as well for their lunch. When completely huddled up however, they are surprisingly well camouflaged in the trees.

The Melon Bird has a loose base bird in the form of a Black Vulture.

I've still no idea why the fruits are popular. Feb unfortunately I need to focus on art due for March (That'll only be able to WIP upload on Tumblr/LJ till their dates) but I still have a bunch of the buggers I want to get a basic reference down for. Next Fruit will likely be one of the original ArtSlam batch since I've ended up doing more newer fruits from people's suggestions than I expected but hey!
