The eighth part of my Yellowknife saga! We see Mr. Carpenter inspiring the men (and perhaps women) of his mining corps. Suffice to say, the men (and perhaps women) offer bald-faced resistance. Will this spell the end of the Yellowknife expedition? Find out in later song installments!
Thanks for listening, guys and gals. :)
LYRICS:
Mr. Carpenter (Spoken):
Keep on digging! You don’t know what’s under there!
Keep on digging! You can’t be done! There is work to do!
Mr. Carpenter (Sung):
Keep on digging
I know what’s under there
A mountain of treasures
Majestic as a white mare
In due time the earth will come along
And sing its song to us all
Gentlemen, don’t lose hope…for now
Keep on digging
A journey can end two ways
We could be sitting here
Till our dying days
Or we’ll become immortalized
Workers:
We are tired and hungry
We have no reason to go on
There is no jewels to discover
There is no reason to be
La, la, la, la (x4)
Mr. Carpenter (Spoken):
I am not standing for this negativity! You are either going to fight or you are going to perish in this soil! Do what you will, but I implore you all to think rationally! Listen to me!
Mr. Carpenter (Sung):
Keep on digging
Don’t succumb to naivete
I know things will turn around someday
Nature will guide us with its gems
And then the earth will come along
And sing a most beautiful song
Keep on digging
The gold is just out of reach
Listen here, listen to what I preach
Then all will become immortalized.
Workers:
We are tired and hungry
We have no reason to go on
There is no jewels to discover
There is no reason to be
La, la, la, la (x4)
Mr. Carpenter (Spoken):
Damn it, have a little faith, why don't you? You'll find the gold just yet. Just you wait.
