Crimson and Noma Badges by Eskiworks

Crimson and Noma Badges

Eskiworks

Gift badges for Crimson and Noma! These badges are watercolor with a little gouache, and black India ink for the background. I am loving how the black ink makes the colored parts stand out. I leave a white border around the edges of the badge by masking it off with artist's tape, and then when it's all done they live in their own protective plastic sleeves.

I'm taking these badges as commissions at the con itself, but also as pre-orders. See my journal for pre-order info!

do you paint the black background first or the character?

Character first! The ink takes a while to set/dry, the watercolor not as much. So it's faster and more intuitive to do the characters first and lay in ink after. =)

I love Roz-es book, though I do like tufted-ear griffins (such as this one) a bit more than the smooth-headed ones :D
