Her garments tore themselves apart, a body not belonging to them demanding the end of their existence. Her amulet, once a source of comfort and safety, now constricted tightly across her growing neck, making worse the struggle for breath.

The tail had grown long. Longer than her whole body. Her feet had stretched and changed in purpose, swiping at the water with powerful tantrums. Her hands... her hands were barely her own anymore, fingers merging together and claws claiming a place where their tips should have been. 

And her face! She couldn't see it, but she knew it wasn't the same. The poor mage could feel her once proud visage shape into something truly foreign to her, becoming a new thing to explore with a new tongue from a new throat that made new sounds on new teeth...

But she couldn't think of these things. Air! The need for air stole all other thoughts away! And the amulet was NOT helping!
