DESCRIPTION:

Extrascape is a robotic musical duo. Ever heard of Daft Punk? Well, these guys really are robots: you can see their "heads" up there in the picture. On the left is 202-B (for Brave) and on the right is 713-DHC (for Disobedient, Honest, Calm). They create their music by hijacking other pieces of electronics such as computers, droid-operated assembly lines, even star ships. Their style is wide-ranging, and isn't always pleasant for human ears. Being robots they don't care for fame or fortune, but only wish to travel the galaxy making music in unlikely places.

NOTES:

This is an illustration from my Professor Odd series. It's from a story I haven't actually written yet, but it's going to be loads of fun. Robots, pop stars, malevolent alien forces, plus Odd and her crew (which includes a dog and a tentacle monster named Dave)… and the solution to the mystery is in a Matthew Ebel song. (I'm not even joking.)

Background is referenced from this amazing picture from the Hubble Telescope site. More info on the dA post.

I have to say I am very impressed! Almost NO picture fool me into thinking it is traditional when it is digital or digital when it is traditional! I thought this was digital at first...looking close I can now tell it is traditional but WOW! Good job!

Thanks! I've worked long and hard with colored pencils to create that smooth, "digital painterly" feel. Still recognizable for what they are, though. ;)
