Mia Jansen-Saqsakaew comes from a radically different alternate earth. In this earth, magic has existed for awhile, and she was born with it herself. She was the daughter of teenage parents who had her in the 20s - when the great war (The WWI equivalent - though there can be a lot of cases as to the Napoleonic wars being the WWI equivalent. >v>... look it's complicated, alright?) was just around the corner. Her father was a full blooded Menominee while her mother was of scandanavian descent in Michigan. To hide the fact that she was a born to teen parents, her mom went to stay with relatives elsewhere - when she was really staying with the Amish-like father's side of the family. Mia was left behind with them for awhile, before her mom decided to pass her off as her adopted daughter. (She took after her father's side of the family a little more - you wouldn't know this right now, although seeing anthros does kind of pass her off as obvious native. :B )

In the picture, she's in "Heron corrupted" form - her dad basically merged her with a heron spirit when she was very young, which gave her the power to shapeshift into a full heron or an anthro heron - sort of a heron corrupted form, in this. She looks more bird-like, really. There are a few advantages to that, like better eyesight and the stretchy neck. (Herons can eat whatever fits down their beaks.)

She's basically an investigator who works at a private firm. She uses her eyesight and ability to fly (While retaining her intelligent mind) to get intel. She must remain a heron or part heron for at least 24 hours a week - and the charm is kinda what lets her do it.

OH yeah, yes, Mia is female. She just kinda gets used to being rather flat-chested. :P
